Pubs
Most of the pubs, clubs and Restaurants are to be found in the old town.
Don't forget to wander down side streets as many great little eating places are hidden away from the casual observer. If you want to be in amongst the crowds though, Cours Saleya is the place to be whether for a full meal or just a coffee while people watching.

Mc Mahon's
Big screen showing sports - also serves Guinness! Near Massena / close to Bus Station

Waynes Bar
Just check the web site - completely bonkers bar. Near the square, Vieux Nice

Ma Nolans
Great "Irish" pub, good crowd, great food - their Fish & Chips (Fridays / Saturdays) is highly recommended
Multiple TV screens showing different sports on different walls.
Just past the opera house, next to Cours Saleya, Vieux Nice

Trois Diables
Doesn't get a good write up on some web sites but personal experience says it's worth a visit just to say you've been.
Cours Saleya, Vieux Nice

Restaurants / Places to Eat

(This is just an initial list and will be added to as recommendations arrive.)

Jardins du Capitole - Promenade des Anglais, near Rue Andrioli
Refurbished a few years ago, good food in tasteful surroundings at reasonable value.
The food is generally high quality but possibly just a little too expensive looking.
The saving grace is that it's right round the corner from the apartment!

Queenie's - Promenade des Anglais
Owned by an English person, free WiFi if you buy anything, good for sports
as it has 3 big screen TV's, food pretty good but a little on the expensive side.
The big advantage is, of course, being situated on the Prom.

Le Jockey - 5, Rue Meyerbeer, just off the Promenade.
This is a Bar / PMU so you can expect to see Sports TV and enjoy a typical French atmosphere.
Despite a dowdy appearance, the food is both quite cheap and good value.
With covered seating on the pavement, it's quite pleasant and unpretentious, which is unusual for the area.

Villa D'Este - Pedestrian Zone, Rue de France, near Place Massena.
Opposite Boccachia (to be reviewed in a later update)
Not for the faint-hearted! Prepare for a feast of fantastic Italian inspired food.
If it's your first time, order to share (partager) - the servings are enormous.
Average bill is around 45 euro for two, including wine. (Feb.10)

Le Lodge - 14 Rue Halevy
Close to the pedestrian zone, back from the Rhul casino.
Food could be better, service could be better, prices could be better. Enough said.

Restaurant La Maison de Marie - 5, Rue Massena.
Situated at the end of a lane off the pedestrian zone, you would think
twice about venturing half way down to look at the menu. And just as well - it's best kept a secret.
For ambiance, food quality, value and service this restaurant is highly recommended. The dress code is
more formal than you'd expect of this area and the better for it. Quite classy really.

Spaghetissimo (now under a different name?) - 3 Cours Saleya.
At the far end of the Cours, this little restaurant is great for a long lunch on a sunny day.
The salads are a decent size and the pizzas excellent.

La Havane - 32 Rue de France.
You would pass this place and think it was just another nightclub, especially when inside there's a lot of dancing
going on to the beat of the samba. However, you would miss the fact that there's a decent cocktail bar and a large
seating area around the dance floor. Food is excellent, a 3 course a la carte dinner costing around €50 for two.
Perhaps a little expensive compared to other places mentioned, but well worth it.

Restaurant China Park 30 Rue de France, Nice
China Park Restaurant, specialising in Chinese, Vietnamese and Thai cooking.

Miami Plage (Monaco) - Plage du Larvotto
Can't beat dining on the beach! Pizzas are great, good value for Monaco too
A favourite haunt of many F1 drivers.
